Emmett Markulis appointed Head Golf Professional at Four Seasons Lanai

Four Seasons Resorts Lana’i are pleased to announce the appointment of Emmett Markulis as Head Golf Professional at The Challenge at Manele golf course.

With a background in physical education and tournament play, Markulis brings a wealth of knowledge and forward-looking methodology to The Challenge at Manele’s golf program. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations The Challenge at Manele, including managing the Pro Shop, landscaping, private lessons, ensuring exceptional guest experience, and developing and incorporating the latest trends in golf. Markulis will utilise his tournament knowledge and experience towards various clinics geared towards competitive play for Resort guests, with an emphasis on health and wellness.

“Emmett is a great addition to the Lana’i ohana,” says Tom Roelens, general manager of Four Seasons Resorts Lana’i. “His impressive golf background and knowledge of tournament play make him the ideal candidate for The Challenge at Manele.”

Markulis makes the move to the sandy shores of Lana’i from across the channel in Kapalua, Maui, where he served as assistant golf professional at Kapalua Golf. While in Kapalua, Emmett assisted in the management of daily operations of the course, such as guest services, pace of play, merchandising, Ghin scoring, and most notably tournaments. Throughout his tenure at Kapalua Golf, Markulis was instrumental in supervising PGA golf tournaments, including the Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Prior to Maui, Markulis spent six years in Southern California as a personal fitness trainer, where he worked with athletes, including golfers, to improve their sports performance through interval and strength training.

Markulis, a native of California, is a graduate of California State University at Chico where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education. He also received his associate degree in golf management from the Professional Golfers Career College in Temecula, California. In addition to being an avid golfer, he enjoys stand up paddle boarding and plays on a fast pitch wood bat baseball team. When not swinging a club, bat or paddle, he spends quality time with his wife Abby and two children, Dane and Kalea, exploring Lana’i’s many offerings.
