TAP launches Embraer 190 as JetBlue partnership takes off

TAP is continuing to upgrade its service offering to customers, both in comfort through the introduction of the Embraer 190, and an extended route network within the US through a new code-share with JetBlue.

The first E190 aircraft took its maiden flight for the airline on route TP488, from Lisbon to Nice, France.

The entry of the E190 aircraft is part of TAP’s regional fleet renewal strategy.

With capacity for 106 passengers, the E190 offers comfortable seats (known as Slim Seats) in a cabin configuration of 2 + 2 seats per row, giving excellent in-flight comfort.

TAP’s route network will also be boosted by a new code-share agreement with North America-based JetBlue.

The code-share will provide TAP customers easy access and convenient flight options to several North American gateways, with seamless connections through JetBlue’s hubs in New York – John F. Kennedy and Boston – Logan.

JetBlue is the largest domestic airline to service both airports.

As part of the agreement, TAP will be able to place its code on JetBlue flights departing New York‘s JFK and/or Boston Logan to as many as 34 North-American gateways including hotspots such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington, Chicago, Las Vegas, Orlando, Detroit, and New Orleans.

Currently, TAP operates to Newark and Miami and is now extending services to the USA as part of its expansion strategy in this key market, with the inauguration of daily flights from Lisbon to Boston on 11 June, and daily flights to New York – JFK starting as of early July.

Both will be operated with new Airbus A330 aircraft to be delivered soon, and altogether, TAP’s US service will grow to 30 flights a week.
