Hotels.com app gets Japan’s shock jocks out of hot water

Leading online accommodation booking website, Hotels.com®, today launches the third instalment of its popular Xtreme Booking video series - “White Water Booking”, this time featuring Japan’s shock jock comedians, The Tokyo Shock Boys, known for their wacky and extreme stunts.

The new Hotels.com Xtreme Booking video shows the Tokyo Shock Boys booking a hotel at the very last minute using Hotels.com’s mobile booking app while surging down ice-cold mountain rapids and free-falling down a seven-metre waterfall.

Commenting on the group’s booking experience, the Tokyo Shock Boys, who books the Matsunoi hotel with only a few clicks, says: “It worked! Sliding down rapids at a high speed, we were able to book a hotel room and receive the confirmation. Coming into this, we didn’t know whether it was actually possible, but the speed of the Hotels.com app has shocked us.”
Johan Svanstrom, Vice President and Managing Director of Hotels.com in Asia Pacific, says: “Adding to our Hotels.com Xtreme Booking video series is exciting. This version demonstrates that even in the most extreme situations, our app can help you find the perfect last-minute deal. With the number of mobile bookings made on the day of stay increasing, the Xtreme Booking video demonstrates the speed and efficiency of booking on-the-go, with the choice of more than 220,000 hotels and thousands of last-minute deals around the world.”

Following its launch in 2011, the Hotels.com app is now available for iPhone, Android, iPad, Windows Phone 7 and Windows 8 and has achieved more than 15 million downloads. Users can manage their Welcome Rewards accounts, access up to 20,000 last-minute hotel deals based on their search and current location, read seven million traveller reviews,  as well as get quick and easy access to upcoming bookings, thanks to a contextual home page, which changes based on the user.
