Ryanair has reported a 2022 first quarter profit of €170m, compared to a loss of €273m in the same period in 2021, but significantly below the €243m reported in 2020, pre-Covid.

Ryanair has welcomed the ballot approval by its Spanish based pilots on post-Covid pay restoration, which follows the recent acceptance by its French based pilots of a similar agreement. These agreements with the SEPLA (Spain) and SNPL (France) unions deliver accelerated pay restoration and future improvements to pay in each year up to March 2027.

Ryanair, Ireland’s favourite airline, welcomed the Irish Govt’s decision to use the Defence Forces to assist with passenger security processing at Dublin Airport until the end of the summer period. This measure will support the hardworking DAA security staff, especially during peak weekend travel and reduce the chances of long queues that passengers have experienced particularly at the start of the summer season.

Ryanair announced a 5 year heavy maintenance agreement with Jordan based MRO provider, Joramco, which will see the airline utilising up to 6 heavy maintenance bay slots at its facility in Amman, Jordan. Ryanair’s fleet will grow to over 600 aircraft over the coming years and this agreement will ensure that the airline has flexibility as to where it places its aircraft for winter maintenance season.

Ryanair has launched a training partnership with Astonfly to recruit and train up to 500 new cadet pilots over a 4-year period in France. In a strong sign of post-pandemic recovery in international air transport, the low-cost airline aims to attract pilots to support its growth across Europe.

Ryanair has marked the opening of its new base at Newcastle. The low-cost carrier will base two aircraft at the airport, claiming this will create around 60 jobs.
