Hyatt Hotels Corporation is planning to expand its Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency brands in Pakistan with the signing of management agreements by a Hyatt affiliate for four Hyatt-branded hotels. On the drawing board are Grand Hyatt Islamabad, Hyatt Regency Karachi, Hyatt Regency Lahore, and Hyatt Regency Rawalpindi. Bahria Town, one of the largest private developers in Asia, will own the four Hyatt-branded hotels.

Hyatt has appointed its long-time executive Jim Chu to the newly created position of global head of select service and franchise strategy, designed to strengthen and support the continued growth of the Hyatt Place and Hyatt House brands. Chu will report to Steve Haggerty, global head of capital strategy, franchising and select service for Hyatt.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of Park Hyatt Mallorca in Spain, the first Park Hyatt resort in Europe. Located on the undiscovered north-east Coast, the hotel also marks the first Hyatt hotel in Mallorca. Set in the exclusive Cap Vermell Estate, and designed in the style of an authentic Mallorquín village, the secluded setting offers guests a unique and tranquil environment.
A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with InTown Hospitality for a Hyatt House hotel in Düsseldorf, Germany, which is expected to open January 2017. Hyatt House Düsseldorf will mark the brand’s entry into Europe, and is the first franchise agreement for a Hyatt-branded hotel in the region, an important step toward increasing Hyatt’s brand representation throughout Europe.
The Hyatt Regency Chandigarh has opened its doors in Northern India. Located 153 miles (246 kilometres) from India’s capital of Delhi, Hyatt Regency Chandigarh is the first Hyatt-branded hotel to open in Chandigarh.
Grand Hyatt Taipei has tapped a veteran of the hospitality industry in Asia, Sammy Carolus, to lead the property and its 1,000 staff as general manager. Carolus previously was general manager of Thailand’s Hyatt Regency Hua Hin. He relocates to Taipei with more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation has entered into an agreement to purchase the 380-room Thompson Miami Beach hotel from an affiliate of Geolo Capital. The transaction is expected to close in late April, and the hotel will be rebranded as The Confidante upon opening, joining the existing properties in the recently launched The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand.
Park Hyatt Tokyo has welcomed of Hervé Mazella to the role of general manager of the iconic luxury hotel. Mazella will oversee operations of the intimate 177-room hotel located in Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo. He was born in Provence and studied at a hotel academy in France before furthering his studies in hotel management in both France and Germany and going on to receive a masters in hospitality.
A Hyatt Place hotel, located at the Frankfurt Airport in Germany, is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2018. Union Investment acquired the approximately 3,006 sqm hotel site from seller, developer and lessee Europahotel Baufeld, which is part of the Feuring Group, via a forward purchase arrangement.
