More than forty of South Africa’s most prestigious wine producers will be digging deep into their cellars to source their big-format bottled wines for the fourth annual Big Bottle Festival.

The event begins with an exclusive gourmand dinner at The Reserve, Taj Hotel Cape Town on Friday, August 29th, and is followed by the walk-about tasting on August 30th.

Unique in concept and execution, the festival brings together South Africa’s foremost winemakers and chefs’ de cuisine, creating a different approach to wine and culinary pairings.

All wines are poured from big bottles during the Walk-About tasting.

Wineries bottle in large formats, for special occasions and limited releases, to showcase outstanding vintages or to mark a winery’s anniversary or for charitable purposes.

These magnificent bottles are synonymous with celebration, extravagance, enjoyment and they invoke a feeling of delightful, social decadence.

As from 2015 The Big Bottle Festival will be hosted in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, which will serve as the launch pad for also hosting the event internationally.

This significant growth will benefit local and international participating brand partners, consumers and the magnificent wines producers of South Africa.
