Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts has just signed an agreement to manage the Plaza Beach Resort in the north west of Mauritius. This luxury 4-star, 198 room establishment is situated, in Pointe aux Piments Bay, 60 km from the international airport and 15 km from the island`s capital of Port-Louis.

Following an extensive renovation due for completion by the end of the year, the Plaza Beach Resort will be officially named “Le Meridien Ile Maurice”.

“After a few years` absence from Mauritius, Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts has welcomed the opportunity to come back to the island, and this new site is part of our strategy to continue to develop our presence in the Indian Ocean”, said Hassan Ahdab, Director for Le Meridien for the Africa and Indian Ocean Region. He added, “we are delighted to return to this important tourist destination, which draws both individual customers and an increasing number of conference clientele who are looking for destinations that offer a combination of luxury and value for money.”

Le Meridien is presently represented in the Indian Ocean with two properties in the Seychelles (Le Meridien Barbarons & Le Meridien Fisherman`s Cove), and a luxury cruise ship (Le Meridien Pearl of Seychelles).

The Plaza Beach Resort is situated in one of Mauritius` most sheltered bays, where the seawater temperature varies between 22 and 27 ¡C depending on the season. The hotel has 180 rooms, 12 “Terrace” suites and 6 “Presidential” suites, each with a private terrace affording a beautiful ocean view. The rooms are spread over 6 buildings in the complex.

Amongst the numerous facilities, the hotel boasts 3 restaurants, 4 bars, a swimming pool with sauna & jacuzzi, 2 tennis courts and a full range of leisure activities, including sailing, water skiing, snorkelling and scuba diving. Guests can take full advantage of the health and fitness centre, which offers spa treatments including the very popular Thalassotherapy and Balneotherapy.

The Plaza Beach Resort is also ideal for conferences and business meetings, offering a variety of multi-purpose conference and reception rooms, and a full office support service. The largest modular conference room comfortably accommodates up to 500 people for an event such as a cocktail party (340 people seated).
