US Airways Group, Inc. announced that Capt. William D. Pollock has been appointed to the board of directors. He will replace Capt. Chris Beebe, who has assumed the position of Vice President - Finance/Treasurer with ALPA at a national level.
Pollock, chairman of US Airways` Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) Master Executive Council (MEC), is one of four representatives of US Airways` labor groups that will be included on the 15-member board.
“Bill is an esteemed professional who has represented ALPA admirably over the last 17 years. He has a great understanding of big-picture industry issues and the relationship of those issues to the thousands of pilots he represents,” said David Siegel, US Airways president and chief executive officer. “We welcome him to the board and look forward to his contributions.”
Pollock has been with US Airways since 1985. In addition to his role as ALPA MEC Chairman, he previously has served as ALPA`s MEC vice chairman and legislative affairs committee chairman.
During his career at US Airways, Pollock has held the captain position on the Airbus A-320, and Fokker 100 aircraft, and flew in the first-officer position on the B-737 aircraft. He served 21 years in the United States Navy and Navy Reserves, flying the P-3 Orion. He holds a bachelor`s degree in business administration from Norwich University.
Pollock is married with three children and resides in Montpelier, Vt.
