Air Berlin appoints new Manager of Loyalty & Partnerships

Marcus Puffer, 38, has been appointed as the new Manager of airberlin’s Loyalty & Partnerships Department and will take up his post on 1st November 2011.

Born in Vienna, Austria, Mr. Puffer studied International Business Administration at the University of Vienna. In 1998 he embarked on his professional career with Austrian Airlines, where he was engaged in market research and long-term network planning. In 2001 he joined Star Alliance Services GmbH, a company based in Frankfurt. His first appointment was as Business Project Manager, focusing on global network and membership development. From 2007 onwards Mr. Puffer also headed the Network Development section.

In this new appointment, Mr. Puffer will be reporting to the Director of Marketing, André Rahn, who commented on Mr. Puffer’s joining airberlin: “I am delighted that the ranks of topbonus, Germany’s second-largest frequent-flyer programme, will be strengthened by Marcus Puffer, an established expert in airline alliances. airberlin is striving to become a full member of the global airline alliance, oneworld®, by the beginning of 2012. Puffer will be there to guide topbonus into the oneworld alliance and to promote the worldwide expansion of the frequent-flyer programme.”

More than 2.7 million passengers are already topbonus members. This means that they can enjoy the exclusive benefits offered by the many topbonus partners, such as special deals on hotels, hire cars, insurance and magazines. Our membership of oneworld will make topbonus even more attractive to topbonus status customers: in future passengers will be able to earn frequent flyer miles with partner airlines worldwide.
