Air Berlin looks to boost online sales in Russia

Air Berlin looks to boost online sales in Russia

Tradedoubler, the performance marketing and technology company, is to launch airberlin’s first affiliate marketing programme in Russia on 18 June 2012. As Germany’s second largest airline, airberlin transports more than 30 million passengers every year. This strategic appointment comes at a time when airlines are facing growing competition and continued pressure from global economic uncertainty.

Travel websites in Tradedoubler’s Russian network can now earn revenue on each sale of an airberlin ticket generated on their websites, whilst airberlin benefits from paying for genuine incremental ticket sales, rather than brand awareness impressions or clicks.

Tradedoubler has extensive experience in running successful affiliate marketing programmes for the travel sector, offering unrivalled access to around 70 per cent of the European e-commerce audience.

“I see great opportunities for the airberlin affiliate program in the Russian market,” said David Petrosyan-Mkervali, Country Manager of Tradedoubler Russia.

“airberlin offers an extensive range of flights to three Russian destinations from across Europe, including routes between Moscow and Berlin that are proving very popular with Russian tourists.

“The combination of such a well-known, popular travel service and Tradedoubler’s high quality affiliate network and technology will create a successful, revenue-generating digital marketing initiative, despite some of the difficulties we face due to the early-stage development of affiliate marketing in Russia.”

Isabella Pommerening, Senior Manager E-Commerce at airberlin said: “Launching an affiliate marketing programme in Russia opens new territory for us, so it was essential for us to partner with the pan-European leader in affiliate that also has the local market expertise we need.  Now we can ensure that our Russian customers can discover and book airberlin flights and help grow our business in this important market.”
