Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London launches brand new culinary adventure ‘LUCHO’
Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London is delighted to announce the launch of its brand new culinary concept ‘Lucho’, bringing an eclectic menu of Chilean culinary flavours including empanadas, pisco sours and traditional ‘ponchera’, to Knightsbridge. Guests will find ‘Lucho’ at The Rosebery - the light and contemporary all-day dining spot at the heart of the hotel.
Executive Chef Francisco Hernandez, affectionately known as ‘Cisco,’ to his friends and family, pays homage to the heritage of traditional Chilean cuisine. Each dish served at ‘Lucho’ is a testament to the love and passion for food that has been passed down through four generations.
At the heart of the concept is Chef Francisco’s grandfather, Luis, who was fondly called ‘Lucho’. Lucho owned a small grocery store in Chile and was renowned for hosting legendary gatherings for his friends and family at the back of the store, centred around food and the sharing of stories. Lucho’s parties were famous for his homemade cooking, board games, creative cocktails, and love for life.
The menu at ‘Lucho’ pays homage to his legacy, featuring traditional dishes such as empanadas, fresh seafood, and beloved desserts such as, churros con Manjar, cherished by Chef Francisco’s children. Highlights of the menu include Chilean favourites such as Palta Cardenal, an avocado and prawn dish inspired by Chef Francisco’s childhood memories by the beach; British Seafood Tiraditos, a twist on the classic ceviche; Pastel de choclo made from corn; and Abuelo Luis’s favourite Pescado al Horno – baked fish. Guests are encouraged to enhance their experience by enjoying a glass of punch from the ‘Ponchera’ or indulge in a ‘Cisco Sour’ in recognition of Francisco.
