Holidaymakers warned to be careful where they leave their rental cars in Vilnius

Planning a trip to Vilnius in the near future? Be careful where you park your car!

That is the message going out to drivers in the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, after footage emerged of mayor Arturas Zuokas using an armoured vehicle to crush an illegally parked car.

In the surreal clip – recorded over the weekend for Swedish TV series, 99 Things You Should Do Before You Die – Zuokas is seen cheerily driving over the vehicle before greeting the apparent owner.

“That is what will happen if you park your car illegally,” Zuokas warns in a clip originally posted on the Vilnius City website.

Zuokas then helps to clear up the broken glass from the Mercedes vehicle as it is towed away.

“You have to have a sense of humour in my line of work,” he adds.

Parking in the central streets of Vilnius is strictly prohibited, although it is not believed to be a big problem.
