WestJet will resume flying to Fort McMurray International Airport as the airport reopens for commercial operations for the first time since wildfires caused the suspension of scheduled flights on May 4, 2016.
Aeromexico and WestJet have signed a codeshare agreement. The new codeshare will give Aeromexico’s customers enhanced connecting service via Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver to more than 10 Canadian destinations.
WestJet has announced new non-stop service from London Gatwick to six Canadian cities. Westjet’s Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice-President, Finance, Vito Culmone, will be stepping down from his role on May 29, 2015. Vito will be joining another Calgary-based organization in a similar capacity.
WestJet has announced Glasgow as its newest European destination. Daily non-stop flights from Halifax begin May 29, 2015, with direct service from Toronto, operated on one of the airline’s Boeing Next-Generation 737-700 series aircraft.
WestJet Airlines today announced that it is moving forward with plans that would see the airline fly its own wide-body aircraft as early as fall 2015. The airline has received the support of the WestJet Pilot Association and its Board of Directors, and is currently in the advanced stages of sourcing wide-body aircraft.
WestJet has confirmed its most comprehensive schedule release since the airline took to the skies in 1996. As part of the 2014 summer schedule, the airline is adding five new routes, increasing frequency on 20 existing routes across the network, while five seasonal routes move to year-round service.
Boeing and WestJet have announced they have completed an order for 65 737 MAX airplanes, fulfilling the carrier’s letter of intent to purchase the airplanes announced on August 29th. The order, valued at $6.3 billion at list prices, consists of 40 737 MAX 8s and 25 737 MAX 7s.
