Seychelles minister for Tourism and Culture welcomes his Mauritius counterpart

The Mauritian Minister for Arts and Culture, Mookhesswur Choone, is in Seychelles at the invitation of the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange. Minister Choone, who arrived in the country this morning was greeted at the International Airport by his Seychellois counterpart Minister St.Ange, the Principal Secretary of Culture, Benjamine Rose, and the Special Advisor to the Minister, Raymonde Onezime.

The Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture said that the presence of the Mauritian Minister in Seychelles reinforces the growing bilateral ties and mutual understanding that exists between Seychelles and Mauritius.

Minister Chooney’s second overseas trip to Seychelles since taking office in 2010 as the Minister of Arts and Culture, will be highlighted by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for cultural exchanges between the two countries.

During his three-day official visit in Seychelles, Minister Chooney will call on President James Michel at State House, the Minister for Foreign Affairs Jean Paul Adam, and will take part in the August 15 Feast of Assumption on La Digue, known as LafetLla Digue.

Minister Chooney’s first trip to Seychelles was in 2010 as the guest of honor for the October Creole Festival.

Former Mauritian High Commissioner to India, Minister Choone, also holds the ministerial portfolio of local government and solid waste management; housing and lands; arts, culture, and youth development; as well as arts and culture; and leisure and reform institution.
