Maldives reports increase in UK visitor numbers

Maldives Marketing & PR Corporation has announced an increase in visitor arrivals from the UK, with the latest 2015 figures revealing an eight per cent increase in UK tourists during the first three months of 2015.

This equates to 25,158 UK tourists visiting the Maldives compared to 23,297 in 2014.

In addition to a rise in visitor figures, the Maldives will also be expanding its tourism infrastructure during 2015, including a number of new hotel developments and the introduction of a new luxury seaplane transfer from Male to Dhonakulhi Island.

Mohamed Adam, deputy managing director of Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation explained: “We’re very pleased to see an increase in visitors from the UK and that the Maldives is still one of the UK’s favourite holiday destinations.

“With our tourism offering continuing to expand and the destination celebrating its 50th anniversary of independence this year in July, we are confident the Maldives will continue to perform well during 2015 and look forward to welcoming more visitors from the UK.”
