London Luton Airport publishes 2010 community engagement report

London Luton Airport has published its Community Engagement Annual Report for 2010.  Summarising the Airport’s achievements in 2010, the report also outlines new and more challenging commitments for the Community programme in 2011.

Successes in 2010 included:
• Raised more than £42,000 for local charity Keech Hospice Care
• Established a Community Tours programme which welcomed over 600 visitors on educational tours in 2010
• Increased recycling rates to 22% of total waste between 2009 and 2010
• Reduced C02 emissions from Airport controlled buildings by 7% between 2008 and 2010
• Co-ordinated the raising and distribution of £25,000 worth of aid for Pakistan flood victims
• Committed £50,000 through the Airport Community Trust Fund to sponsor 32 projects
• Created a formal work placement programme for apprentices
