Flybe’s early bird flight takes off from Leeds Bradford to London Gatwick

Flybe, one of Europe’s largest regional airlines and the UK’s number one domestic carrier, today announces the start of a new 7am route between Leeds Bradford and London Gatwick.  The convenient commuter service will provide a useful link to the nation’s capital for both business and leisure travellers and will allow passengers even more flexibility with their travel plans.

Tickets for the new service start at £25.99 one way including taxes and charges and flights can be booked today at www.flybe.com.

Since BMI axed its route from Leeds Bradford to London Gatwick in June, Flybe has carried over 17,000 passengers to the nation’s capital. Moreover, with over 50% of traffic already originating from Leeds, Flybe expects to see an increased number of passengers travelling south to take advantage of the variety of winter sun and ski routes now running from London Gatwick.

Nearly three quarters (68%) of all passengers currently using the route are staying in London for one night or less, which is why the new schedule has been designed with the business traveller in mind, and re-affirms the importance of this key business route to the region. The new early morning departure from Leeds Bradford at 0700, and late return from London Gatwick at 1955, shows Flybe’s commitment to serving Leeds Bradford and to listening and acting on the needs of its passengers.

Mike Rutter, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer says: “The start of the early morning flight to London Gatwick shows our continued commitment to serving Leeds Bradford and to meeting the needs of our many business travellers who are looking for increased flexibility to facilitate day-long business trips to the Capital.

“Our winter schedule is designed to increase choice for our passengers and the 7am flight is testament to this.  We would urge passengers looking for both leisure or business travel to the nation’s capital to book early so they don’t miss out on the lowest possible fares.”
