WeRoad accelerates US expansion with first US General Manager

WeRoad, the European leader in group adventure travel, has appointed entrepreneur Dan Berger as US General Manager, as it accelerates its expansion into the American market following its recent $58 million Series C funding round led by Airbnb.

This appointment comes as WeRoad begins to gain traction in the US market. After two weeks of launching its first digital marketing campaigns, the company has already secured around 100 bookings from US travellers. Out of more than 120 applications, 30 Group Leaders have already been recruited to lead WeRoad itineraries, helping manage logistics while fostering meaningful connections within the group. To support its US expansion, the company is also actively building its first US team with recruitment underway across community-led growth, customer experience, sales and social media.

Founded in Milan in 2017, WeRoad organises small-group trips for solo travellers who want to explore the world while meeting like-minded people. The company has built a community of more than 300,000 members across Europe and serves over 100,000 travellers annually, with approximately 60% of bookings coming from returning customers. Backed by Airbnb’s recent investment, WeRoad is now bringing its community-led travel model to the US—its first market beyond Europe—to meet the same growing demand for meaningful relationships and real-world connection that has fuelled its growth to date.

Dan Berger joins WeRoad with extensive experience building high-growth businesses that combine technology, hospitality and community. He previously founded and led event planning software company Social Tables, growing it to 120 employees, 6,000 customers and $20 million in annual recurring revenue before its acquisition by Cvent for $100 million. He has also written about the growing importance of human connection and community in modern life. As US General Manager, Berger will lead WeRoad’s expansion in the market, overseeing its growth and adapting the company’s successful European playbook for American travellers.

According to Dan Berger, General Manager, U.S. at WeRoad: “The early US demand has already confirmed what we saw across Europe: people want trips defined as much by who they travel with as where they go. Our focus now is simple — get as many Americans as possible traveling this way and build a community that compounds for years.”

Paolo De Nadai, Founder of WeRoad said: “Dan combines the experience of building and scaling high-growth businesses with a genuine passion for bringing people together. That makes him the ideal person to lead our US expansion. The US is our biggest growth opportunity. We’ve built a strong business in Europe, and everything we’ve seen so far suggests the American market has the potential to be just as significant. We’re excited to have a leader who shares our vision and can help us achieve that ambition.”

Alongside building its US team, WeRoad is running nationwide marketing campaigns across 12 major metropolitan areas, while establishing an on-the-ground presence in Austin, the Washington D.C. area and Atlanta.
