ebookers.com in new partnership with Carbon Clear in a bid to offset holidaymakers’ carbon footprint

ebookers.com, one of Europe’s leading online travel agents, has today announced a pledge to help customers reduce their carbon footprint through its new partnership with Carbon Clear, a world leader in carbon management and a founding member of the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA). As experts in the field of carbon footprinting and emission reductions, Carbon Clear will offer ebookers customers top-quality carbon offset credits from their portfolio of projects in developing countries.

Holidaymakers at ebookers.com can now use a special online calculator to estimate the emissions from their flights or car travel, and then buy equivalent carbon credits to offset their emissions. The carbon credits are produced by Carbon Clear’s Clean Stove project based in Sudan and their Geothermal project in Indonesia, which both use the sale of carbon offsetting credits to finance renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives that improve the lives of the local families.

ebookers has selected clear and transparent carbon offsetting projects designed not only to bring benefits to the environment but also to the adjacent local communities. The initiative will run under the banner of “Saving more than just the environment.”

Mark Chadwick, Carbon Clear CEO, comments: “Carbon Clear is delighted to partner with ebookers on this exciting new carbon offsetting initiative. ebookers customers now have the opportunity to offset their travel emissions by supporting carbon projects that make a real difference to communities in the developing world.”

Tamer Tamar, President of ebookers, said: “The partnership with Carbon Clear is part of our larger green pledge that we hope other online travel agents will follow. We are aware that consumers care deeply about the impact they have on the environment. By offering an opportunity for holidaymakers to offset their carbon footprint, we enable our customers to contribute to our green pledge and help them travel happy.”
