John Q. Hammons Appoints Muellner

Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels, Inc. (AMEX:JQH) proudly announces that in recognition of his exemplary financial leadership and strategic counsel, Chief Financial Officer Paul Muellner has been appointed to executive vice president. As executive vice president and chief financial officer, Muellner continues to direct all financial functions of John Q. Hammons Hotels, Inc., including overseeing the company`s finance department, controller, audit staff, information technology and investor relations, as well as providing strategic financial leadership and counsel to help guide the company into the future.

Preceding his promotion to chief financial officer, Muellner served as John Q. Hammons Hotels` vice president and corporate controller. In this position, he managed the company`s financial functions, including SEC reporting, forecasting and budgeting. Muellner also managed construction accounting, centralized accounting and correspondence with shareholders and Wall Street analysts, while providing detailed analysis of the company`s operating performance.
Prior to joining John Q. Hammons Hotels, Muellner served as the vice president of finance for Carnival Hotel & Casinos` hospitality group in Miami. During his tenure at Carnival Hotel and Casinos, he was responsible for the company`s overall financial management function, including risk management, centralized accounting and capital spending programs for 30 hotels, which generated $300 million in annual revenues. Muellner`s financial career in hospitality began in 1979 with Marriott Corporation where he served as a financial analyst and staff accountant.
Muellner earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Maryland and a master of science degree in accounting from American University.
