Cathay Pacific to Sponsor New Year Parade


Cathay Pacific Airways today announced that it is proud to be the title sponsor of this year`s Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Parade å- the focus of Hong Kong`s festivities to greet the Year of the Goat in 2003.


On 1 February, the first day of the Lunar New Year, the Cathay Pacific Float will lead another 11 local and international floats and 38 performance groups from around the world along the two-kilometre harbour-front route from Admiralty to Wan Chai.

The theme of Cathay Pacific Float this year will be the airline`s dedication to service: a model of “Asia`s world city” aircraft will soar above a Hong Kong skyline of buildings covered in love hearts.

This year, more than 100 Cathay Pacific staff from Airports, Engineering, Flight Operations and Cathay Pacific Catering Services will join the cockpit and cabin crew in the celebrations, delivering “Service Straight From The Heart” New Year`s Greetings. They will hand out Cathay Pacific souvenirs to onlookers lining the route.

Cathay Pacific Director and Chief Operating Officer Philip Chen said: “Cathay Pacific is delighted to be able to demonstrate its continued commitment to Hong Kong as `Asia`s world city` by once again acting as title sponsor for the Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Parade. Cathay Pacific has been the parade`s title sponsor for the fifth consecutive year. The Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Parade is not only an important event of Hong Kong, but it has also become a major tourist attraction worldwide.
