SAA New Route to New York

06 January, 2003, JOHANNESBURG: In our quest to look increasingly to Africa for future growth and to provide convenient routes, from January 7, South African Airways (SAA) will introduce flights to New York via Dakar, Senegal.

SAA will continue flying from Johannesburg to New York’s John F. Kennedy (JFK) via Ilha do Sal five times a week. However twice week, on Tuesdays and Sundays, SAA will fly from Johannesburg via Dakar to New York. This will provide a direct service to the growing West African market.

From New York`s JFK, SAA will operate five non-stop flights to Johannesburg. In addition, on Mondays and Wednesdays, SAA will operate from JFK via Dakar to Johannesburg.
Previously SAA operated five flights from Johannesburg to JFK via Ilha do Sal. The airline also operated four flights from JFK to Johannesburg non-stop. The flight stopped in Ilha do Sal on Wednesdays. To tap into the West African market, SAA will introduce the Dakar route.


The schedule from January 7 is as follows:

SA201 from Johannesburg via Ilha do Sal to JFK will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

SA202 from JFK will operate non-stop to Johannesburg on, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays

SA 203 will operate on Tuesdays and Sunday from Johannesburg via Dakar to JFK

SA 204 will on operate on Mondays and Wednesdays from JFK via Dakar to Johannesburg
