Expedia.co.uk appoints new MD

Expedia.co.uk has appointed Caroline Cartellieri as vice president and managing director.  She joins the company from Kingfisher Plc where she was director of group commercial finance.

Her role at expedia.co.uk will be to ensure that it continues its strong financial performance as the leading online travel company in the UK. She will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the UK business which equips travellers with the tools and information they need to easily research, plan, book, and experience their trip.  She will report to Dermot Halpin, President Expedia Inc EMEA.

At Kingfisher, Europe’s largest home improvement retailer, Caroline led the team responsible for setting commercial targets, and agreeing the group commercial agenda with operating companies across 11 countries.  She was also responsible for the group commercial budget and strategic planning process.

Caroline had previously been head of strategy for Kingfisher.  She has also had roles with consumer advice site, Ciao.com and was co-founder and CEO of eDelights.com.  She started her career in management consultancy with roles at Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company in London and New York.
