Air Nippon union threatens strike

The union of Air Nippon (ANK), a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of ANA, and the pilot unions of three other ANA Group airlines have threatened to take 24 hour strike action.The strike commences at midnight on Wednesday June 21, to express dissatisfaction with the management stance on career progression, amongst other conditions.

The unions in question are: Air Nippon Crew’s Association, composed of 414 pilots; Air Nippon Network Pilot Union, composed of 45 pilots; Air Next Crew’s Association, composed of 16 pilots and Air Central Pilots’ Union, composed of 41 pilots.

Air Nippon, Air Nippon Network, Air Next and Air Central will continue urgent negotiations with the unions to avoid a strike. If strike action is taken, many ANA* domestic flights will regrettably be subject to cancellation and/ or delay.

Air Nippon and the other companies involved extend their sincere apologies for the inconvenience this will cause to customers and appreciate their understanding and patience.

Domestic Flights - 187 or approx 20% of 925 ANA flights will be subject to cancellation or delay (140 cancellations, 47 delays)
