AH&LA publishes 2 tech primers

The AH&LA Technology Committee revealed two new installments to the “Hotel Technology 101” series during the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show. “Computer System Failure Contingency Planning” and “Food and Beverage Systems” are the eighth and ninth booklets in the series, which provides hotel managers with straightforward, easy-to-understand information about a variety of technology issues. The booklets are available from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association.

“Computer System Failure Contingency Planning” deals with the whys and hows of maintaining hotel service levels and protecting revenue during a failure of key hotel systems. Topics included in the booklet include general strategies for contingency planning, roles of contingency team members during a system failure, necessary supplies, and strategies for managing a hotel without the property management system or its interfaces.
“Food and Beverage Systems” provides an overview of various aspects of technology used in F&B operations, both in the front and back of the house. Topics include point-of-sale system fundamentals, table management applications, gift cards and loyalty programs, inventory and purchasing systems, interfaces, hardware and cabling requirements, and centralized applications.
Each booklet is $10 for AH&LA members and $20 for nonmembers.
