Virgin acts to protect the magic of Christmas

New steps have been taken by Virgin Atlantic to make life for Santa Claus a little easier this year – despite tight airport security.

For the first time ever, the airline is offering passengers the chance to wrap last minute gifts for their loved ones, after passing through security – but before boarding the plane

Airports prefer that all presents carried by passengers remain unwrapped for security reasons.

It solves the agony for parents travelling at Christmas, knowing that presents for children which are supposed to kept secret until Christmas Day are lying unwrapped nearby.

This one-off service will be available prior to boarding at the gate area by specially trained Elves who will wrap up the gift with decorative ribbons and a large bow and gift tag.

A donation of £1 for this service will go to Virgin Atlantic’s named charity ‘Free The Children’.

Joe Thompson, General Manager Airports commented: “

“This is a first for Virgin Atlantic.

“We expect to see over 50,000 passengers travelling with Virgin over the 21st, 22nd and 23rd December.

“Being able to offer this present wrapping service is the perfect finishing touch for those who have gifts to take to loved ones in far-away places.”

Passengers travelling from Gatwick and Heathrow on 21st, 22nd and 23rd December will now have the opportunity to have their presents beautifully gift wrapped by Virgin Elves!

Whether it is a gift for a loved one or a grandchild waiting the other side of the pond, this service now allows passengers to arrive with all their wrapping completed.
