Spanish tourist office selects GAS for social media initiative

The Tourist Office of Spain has engaged Global Advertising Strategies (GAS) to carry out digital and social media initiatives in the United States.

With Global’s help, the body hopes to focus on solidifying Spain’s position as one of the leading destinations for the upscale traveller interested in the country’s unique blend of modern luxury and rich historical legacy.

The campaign, consisting of targeted outreach to high-end trade and consumer travel online publications, emphasizes Spain’s premier offerings for the savvy US traveller to Europe as well as highlights its appeal for those interested in art, gastronomy and history.

Global will extend that messaging into social media channels to foster conversations within target audience groups and focus on partnerships with top travel bloggers to promote Spain’s under-discovered offerings.

“We are looking to showcase Spain’s unique sophistication through innovative digital and social media efforts,” said Notario Bodelon, director of the Tourist Office of Spain in New York and Consul for Tourism Affairs.

Recognised for its ability to effectively zero in on niche audiences, Global will create messaging carefully tailored to various segments and will focus on delivery via unique, proven digital tools.

“The diversity of Spain as a tourist destination is astounding,” said Anna Abelson the supervisor of Global’s Travel and Tourism Practice.

““We look forward to working with the Tourist Office of Spain and applying our market knowledge to solidify brand preference among US travellers.”
