Rides closed at Disneyland following safety citation

Two rides at Disneyland in California remain closed today after the park received a safety citation.

Space Mountain, Soarin’ Over California, and the Matterhorn were all closed on Saturday, with the latter since reopening.

California’s Division of Occupational Safety & Health office in Santa Ana issued a citation to the park on Friday.

The citation relates to seven violations stemming from the injury of an employee of a contractor on November 22nd last year that was performing maintenance on Space Mountain.

Citations included in the OSHA documents sent to Disneyland included violations of failing to properly mount fire extinguishers on Space Mountain and not providing guardrails on elevator work locations on the same ride.

In a statement Disneyland said: “We constantly strive to maintain a safe work environment for our cast members and contractors and we are reviewing certain protocols.”

There is no current timetable for the reopening of Space Mountain and Soarin’ Over California.
