Puerto Rico prepares UK advertising campaign with agent party

To launch its Puerto Rican Salsa season, the eastern Caribbean Island of Puerto Rico will be inviting agents to join in the action with a party at Floridita in London’s west end. 

The event will launch a national advertising campaign by the tourism authority, which is looking to raise the profile of Puerto Rico to the UK market.

One of Puerto Rico’s hottest night spots, the San Juan Water Beach Club Hotel will be providing the cocktails, alongside a live band sponsored by Puerto Rico’s Premium Outlets, the destination for the best value shopping in the Caribbean.

Angie Sloan, regional director for Puerto Rico Tourism Company in the UK, believes it is a great opportunity for agents to learn more about the island.

“Puerto Rico is the hidden gem of the Caribbean as far as the UK market is concerned,” she explained.

“Many people are still to realise it has an incredible offer for holidaymakers with its old art deco cities, the El Yunque rainforest, a Latin, Caribbean and North American fusion of cultures which includes its own unique form of salsa. 

“All this, and visitors still have miles of deserted, palm-fringed paradise beaches to relax on.”

Served by a weekly direct flight with British Airways from London Gatwick, the destination is currently sold by a wide range of operators including Funway, Imagine Cruising, Virgin Holiday Cruises and Western & Oriental.
