Over 1 Million passengers pass through London’s fastest growing airport in July

London Luton Airport handled over one million passengers in July 2011, a 9% increase on the same month last year. This latest news follows the release of official figures last month which showed that London Luton was the fastest growing major airport in the London area, increasing passenger numbers by 11.3% during the first 6 months of 2011.

Among the most popular destinations in July, Palma came first, with Budapest and Malaga in second and third respectively.

With the launch of new routes by a number of London Luton’s airline partners, and the growth of Wizz Air and Monarch in particular, the airport has been able to welcome 948,318 scheduled and 72,172 charter passengers through its doors in July.

Glyn Jones, Managing Director of London Luton, said, “More business and holiday travellers have come through London’s fastest growing major airport due to the competitive airline partnerships we have attracted.  We are now focused on further improving our infrastructure to ensure higher quality of service for our higher volumes of passengers.”
