Richard Blamey, Appointed Vice-President Marketing Conrad Hotels

Richard Blamey has recently joined Conrad Hotels, as Vice-President
Marketing, reporting to Clem Barter, President Conrad Hotels.
In this newly created corporate management role, Richard Blamey will oversee the development of
the Conrad Hotels brand worldwide, by implementing long term strategies for all aspects of marketing
and communications. He will ensure the coordination and the consistency of the marketing function
at all existing properties. In view of Conrad Hotels’ current planned expansion, he will also have
responsibility for the global brand development and the marketing positioning of new Conrad
properties.
A British national, Blamey has over 23 years experience in hotel sales and marketing, essentially
gained with Grand Metropolitan Hotels, when he started his career in 1977, and later with Inter-Continental
Hotels and Resorts which he joined in 1982 as Director of Marketing of London`s
Britannia & Europa Hotels, and left in 1999, as Vice-President Marketing Development.
During that period, he gained extensive international knowledge through his successive promotions in
marketing development around the globe. His regional responsibility began in Europe in 1983. He
then covered the Middle East, which was later combined with Africa, between 1985 and 1992. Inter-Continental
Hotels and Resorts promoted him to the global position of Vice-President, marketing
programmes in 1992, and three years later he became responsible for the overall marketing
development of the brand.
Richard Blamey joins Conrad Hotels from Open World Ltd, an Internet services company dedicated to
the hotel industry. He spent the last 12 months as Managing Director Marketing and Sales, which
logically complemented his overall hotel experience.
Blamey, 45, was educated in England. He holds a Higher National Diploma, in Hotel and Catering
Management from the South Devon College. Richard Blamey is married and lives in London.
Conrad Hotels has earned a reputation for luxury style and service among both business and leisure travelers.
Established in 1982, there are presently 12 Conrad properties operating in the world`s major gateway cities and
resort destinations of Europe, the Middle East, South America and Australasia, along with two more properties
now under development. Owned equally by Hilton Group plc and Hilton Hotels Corporation, Conrad Hotels
continues to explore opportunities to further enhance the brand’s presence in the luxury segment of the hotel
industry on both sides of the Atlantic.
