DENVER (Feb, 2003) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) is proud to announce that, for the fourth consecutive year, its maintenance department has been awarded the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Diamond Award. The Diamond Award is the highest honor given by the FAA and recognizes airlines and other maintenance facilities where at least 25 percent of its aircraft maintenance technicians complete certified training requirements beyond their initial certification. For the fourth consecutive year, 100 percent of Frontier’s aircraft maintenance technicians completed additional training and Frontier was the first domestic air carrier to achieve this distinction. Each of the airline’s 400 maintenance and engineering employees participated in the program this year.

“To earn this award, the maintenance and engineering employees of Frontier Airlines have invested over 30,000 hours in maintenance training,” said FAA National Resource Specialist Bill O’Brien. “That is an impressive amount of time and investment that Frontier has assigned to training, especially in these tough economic times. A long time ago, a wise man said ‘in the race for excellence there is no finish line.’ While that may be true, Frontier’s employee dedication to advance training has shown the world it is leading the pack.”

FAA officials will present Frontier and its maintenance employees with the Diamond Award, as well as the individual achievement awards at ceremonies today at the airline`s maintenance hangar facility at Denver International Airport and later this month its maintenance facilities in El Paso, Texas and Phoenix, Ariz.
Denver-based Frontier Airlines employs approximately 3,100 aviation professionals and is the second largest jet service carrier at Denver International Airport. Frontier and its regional jet partner Frontier JetExpress offer service to 39 cities. Frontier’s fleet consists of 37 aircraft, which feature a single-class configuration.
