US Airways Traffic Up 9.1 Percent For June

US Airways reported today that revenue passenger miles for June 2001 were up 9.1 percent compared to June 2000, while available seat miles for the month increased 9.8 percent. The passenger load factor for the month was 76.8 percent, a decrease of 0.5 percentage points compared to June 2000.

For the second quarter of 2001, revenue passenger miles were up 10.1 percent compared to the same period in 2000, while available seat miles were up 11.2 percent year-over-year. The passenger load factor for the period was 73.8 percent, a decrease of 0.7 percentage points compared to 2000.


Year-to-date revenue passenger miles were up 13.2 percent, compared to the same period in 2000, while available seat miles were up 12.2 percent year-over-year. The passenger load factor for the six-month period was 70.1 percent, an increase of 0.6 percentage points compared to 2000.


The four wholly owned subsidiaries of US Airways Group, Inc.—Allegheny Airlines, Inc.; Piedmont Airlines, Inc.; Potomac Air; and PSA Airlines, Inc.—reported that revenue passenger miles for June were down 0.3 percent compared to June 2000, while available seat miles for the month were down 0.1 percent. The passenger load factor for the month was 61.6 percent, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points compared to June 2000.


For the second quarter of 2001, US Airways Express revenue passenger miles were up 0.4 percent compared to the same period in 2000, while available seat miles were up 0.3 percent. The passenger load factor for the period was 60.3 percent, an increase of 0.1 percentage points from 2000.

Year-to-date, US Airways Express revenue passenger miles were down 1.4 percent compared to the same period in 2000, while available seat miles were down 1.1 percent. The passenger load factor for the six-month period was 55.9 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points from 2000.
