TAM has announced that it has
selected SITA to provide a comprehensive IP-based Telephony (IPT) architecture and
LAN environment across 92 sites worldwide in a five-year, $6.6 million contract.The IPT solution will be fully deployed by October and is expected to result in
considerable savings on annual communication costs through the use of over 5,000 IP
phones.

TAM holds the largest market share in Brazil, and transports over 30 million
passengers per year. The airline needed an IPT solution that could drive down their
communication costs, and a partner which would be accountable for the overall
project. SITA worked closely with TAM to identify their underlying business
requirements, and to design a solution which met the airline’s specific needs.
