AMEX: UK travellers want Oz trips

UK travellers would most like to take a trip down under, according to the results of a recent survey carried out by American Express. When asked where they would choose to go for a once-in-a-lifetime trip, 13% of the 1,000 consumers surveyed cited Australia as their dream destination. This was closely followed by New Zealand, which polled 8% of the votes. North America was also popular, with the US and Canada ranking 3rd and 4th with a combined total of 11%. Finally, for an island destination, the Caribbean was most popular.

The survey was carried out to support the launch of Going Once (www.goingonce.co.uk), a new promotion offering unique travel deals which runs until April 27th.

American Express is auctioning off one of nine unbelievable travel packages each day to its Cardmembers - and once a trip goes on sale, the price drops every twenty minutes. Each day at 4pm GMT, one declining-price travel package will go on sale and will continue to drop in price until midnight GMT or until the package is sold out, whichever comes first.  The site will also feature 19 fixed price packages under £1,500 and more than 150 travel deals.

At the Going Once site, Cardmembers will have the opportunity to choose from nine declining-price travel packages, offered in varying quantities, ranging from 10 to 30. Cardmembers will also be able to keep track of the quantities remaining as the prices continue to drop. Trips on offer include a luxury RV trip across America, an Antarctica adventure and a South African safari.

“Vacation travel packages are more popular than ever, as travellers are looking for unique offerings that combine luxury and savings,” said Rudy Maxa, host and co-executive producer of 65 public television episodes on travel to Europe and the Pacific Rim. “American Express’ Going Once offers consumers the excitement of finding great deals without compromising quality.”
