New appointment for Amadeus

Amadeus has appointed Satoru Yamada as Manager for Travel Services and Leisure in Japan.
Based in Tokyo, Yamada will be responsible for securing non-air travel content, including rail, insurance, cruise, ferry and car providers. This content will assist travel agents both in Japan and globally to offer more services to the end traveller whilst also creating new revenue streams for the travel agents.

Amadeus remains committed to working in partnership with travel agents by providing unmatched expertise and leading edge solutions to help enhance the scope and profitability of their business.

“The Japanese market already has one of the largest outbound sectors in the world, but intends to focus on increasing its inbound traffic in the coming year. This presents Amadeus Japan with a significant opportunity for its Travel Services and Leisure segment to experience exponential growth. Providing wider non-air content to travel agents remains core to the business strategy of Amadeus, and this appointment underpins that commitment. Focused and experienced individuals like Yamada-san will help us cope with this growing demand,” said Sunil Joseph, Regional Manager, Travel Services and Leisure, Amadeus Asia Pacific.

Yamada comes to Amadeus Japan with a great deal of experience in sales, account management and marketing. Having previously worked at Air New Zealand, China Airlines and the Imperial Hotel previously, he will be supporting the local Amadeus office with his strong networks and superb understanding of the Japanese travel industry.

“It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Yamada-san to Amadeus Japan. With his appointment, we are confident that he will make a real difference to our no-air content acquisition and to distribution, through his vast and strong industry experience,” added Miho Ohtake, General Manager, Amadeus Japan.
