Boykin Picked at Myrtle Beach

Boykin Management Company has
announced the addition of Sands Resorts to its managed portfolio. Sands
Resorts, one of Myrtle Beach’s largest collections of oceanfront
condominium hotel units, suites and villas, is owned by Sands Resorts
Holdings LLC. The Sands’ properties include 1,513 units
and are proximate to one another at the northern end of Myrtle Beach.
Sands Resorts includes five condominium resort properties: the Sand Dunes
Resort Hotel, Ocean Dunes Resort and Villas, Sands Beach Club, Ocean
Forest Villas, and Ocean Forest Plaza. The Sands’ resort facilities
include a multitude of recreational activities and amenities, including
the Sands Waterpark, indoor and outdoor pools, lazy rivers, saunas and
whirlpools, the Sands Health Club, and tennis courts. In addition, Sands
has a variety of oceanfront restaurants and lounges, the River City
Cafe(TM), extensive conference and meeting facilities, a centralized
reservation center and a commercial laundry operation. Nearly 1,100 unit
owners are enrolled in the Sands rental program. Legends Golf, an affiliate of Sands Holdings L.L.C., has
controlling interests in eight of the premier resort golf courses in
Myrtle Beach. Sands’ guests and unit owners have access to all of the
Legends golf courses, which include the Heathland, Moorland, Parkland,
Oyster Bay Golf Links, and Heritage Club courses, and the Norman, Love and
Fazio courses at Barefoot Golf.

“We are delighted that Sands Resorts Holdings LLC has selected Boykin as
its operating partner and we fully expect that our expertise in operating
independent condominium resorts will bring high value to the Sands
operation and unit owners. Myrtle Beach continues to grow as one of the
nation’s most popular resort destinations, and is a strong compliment to
our resort operations in North Carolina and Florida. We expect the
transition to be seamless to guests, employees, and the unit owners,”
stated Joseph Smith, Chief Operating Officer of Boykin Management Company.

Larry Young, the Chairman of Sands, said: “We are pleased to announce an
alliance with Boykin Management Company. As a first step, we have asked
Boykin to review and assist in the management of the Sands’ resort hotels
here in Myrtle Beach. We plan immediately to move forward on some of the
new projects that have been under study for some time, and to work with
Boykin in developing those for the Grand Strand market.”
