While COVID-19 has closed down many travel options, a few remain open in limited capacity including the Walt Disney World Resort. After being closed down for 4 months, the parks reopened in July of 2020 and have been slowly increasing capacity limits to allow more guests to enter.

As one of the few destinations that guests can look forward to in 2021, there are a few things you may want to consider when planning a trip here. First, park capacity is still limited which means guests will need to make park pass reservations before arriving. Guests who do not make these advanced reservations will not be allowed into the park.

Second, there are several festivals going on in 2021 that you’ll want to be aware of. The International Festival of the Arts is currently going on at Epcot through the end of February. Beginning early March the Flower and Garden Festival will then take over and run through June of 2021.

Remey’s Ratatouille Adventure, a brand new attraction, should be opening up this spring at Epcot’s France Pavilion. The attraction is identical to the one found at Disneyland Paris and features a trackless adventure as guests shrink down to the size of a mouse.

Also opening in 2021 is Tron Lightcycles which is expected to be completed towards the end of the year. It has been under construction for several years now at Magic Kingdom Theme Park and has caused the closure of attractions like the Walt Disney World Railroad. Upon opening, Tron will be the biggest attraction Disney has completed at this park.

On October 1st, Disney World will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary at the Magic Kingdom and this is expected to draw in large crowds. Guests can expect to see limited-time merchandise, food and entertainment and fireworks. While only the Magic Kingdom is turning 50, the entire resort will be in on the celebration.

Last, Epcot’s brand new entrance should be completed in 2021 featuring new “neighborhoods” as part of the park’s overhaul. We would expect this to be finished sometime in the later summer to early fall. The park has already debuted a new fountain at the front entrance with more to come very soon!
