Courtyard by Marriott opens in Edinburgh
Marriott International is adding the Courtyard Edinburgh to its portfolio in Scotland. The city centre hotel is set within a historic Georgian terrace located in the heart of Edinburgh’s new shopping and entertainment hub at the east end of Princes Street.
Rezidor continues expansion in Russia with new Moscow property
The Rezidor Hotel Group has signed the Park Inn by Radisson Izmailovo, Moscow. The new property is the latest addition to the group’s portfolio of 35 hotels in Russia including 21 Park Inn by Radisson properties with 5,400 rooms. The hotel will be operated under a franchise agreement.
The Distillery, London set to open in December
Portobello Road Gin has announced its much-anticipated venture, The Distillery - a new four-floor mecca for the discerning drinker - will open its doors to the public on Friday, December 16th. The first of its kind in the UK, The Distillery is a completely unique concept that will be home to a distillery, two bars, a museum, off-licenced shop, gin-making experience ‘The Ginstitute’, and three boutique guest rooms overlooking London’s bustling, iconic market street, Portobello Road.
World Travel Market 2016: Anantara Hotels moves into Europe with Algarve property
Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has announced its first property in Europe. Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort will join the brand’s luxury portfolio in April 2017. Located in the Algarve in the south of Portugal, just 15 minutes from Faro International Airport, the existing 280-room property is currently operating as Tivoli Victoria and boasts stunning views over the Arnold Palmer designed Oceânico golf course.
InterContinental Hotels Group signs second Hotel Indigo in Milan
InterContinental Hotels Group has signed Hotel Indigo Milan - Corso Monforte. The hotel will be the brand’s second Italian location, joining Hotel Indigo Rome – St George which opened in 2014. Scheduled to open early 2018 under a franchise agreement with Amapa Group, the historic palace building will be converted into a hotel featuring 55 rooms, a destination restaurant, Courtyard and a leisure and fitness centre.
Hyatt Regency set to debut in Croatia
Hyatt is opening first Hyatt Regency property in Croatia. The 130-room hotel will be located in Zadar, and is scheduled to open in 2019. “We look forward to collaborating with the team at Dogus Croatia to open the first Hyatt Regency hotel in Croatia, and the first Hyatt-branded hotel on the Adriatic Coast,” said Peter Norman, senior vice president, acquisitions and development – Europe, Africa, and Middle East for Hyatt.
Hilton to add first Curio hotel in Italy
Hilton has signed a deal to bring its Curio brand to Tuscany, Italy. The 101-guestroom La Bagnaia Golf & Spa Resort Siena is set to welcome guests from March 2017. Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton said: “La Bagnaia Golf & Spa Resort Siena is a stunning, one-of-a-kind hotel and, in joining the Curio Collection, this remarkable property will keep its unique identity while benefiting from Hilton’s support as a leading global hospitality company.
InterContinental Hotels signs five Holiday Inn properties across Germany
InterContinental Hotels has announced that the group will add five new Holiday Inn brand family hotels to its growing presence in Germany. The hotels will be developed in three federal states across the country and confirm IHG’s successful expansion in the market. IHG has 64 hotels in Germany and 33 in the pipeline, including 53 Holiday Inn brand family hotels open with 32 in the pipeline.
Starwood to welcome The Alexander, a Luxury Collection Hotel, in Armenia
Starwood Hotels & Resorts will enter Armenia with the opening of The Alexander, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Yerevan. The unique hotel is scheduled to open in summer 2017, underscoring Starwood’s strategy to meet the growing demand for experiential luxury travel in emerging markets around the globe.

Hyatt House Hotel set to debut in Germany in 2017
A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with InTown Hospitality for a Hyatt House hotel in Düsseldorf, Germany, which is expected to open January 2017. Hyatt House Düsseldorf will mark the brand’s entry into Europe, and is the first franchise agreement for a Hyatt-branded hotel in the region, an important step toward increasing Hyatt’s brand representation throughout Europe.
Barcelona to welcome Edition hotel in 2017 following Schrager deal
Ian Schrager, together with Marriott International, and the owner and developer, KKH Property Investors, have revealed plans to open a new property in Barcelona, Spain in 2017, The Barcelona Edition. Edition is the first true luxury-lifestyle brand which combines the personal, intimate, individualised and unique hotel experience that Ian Schrager is known for, with the reach, operational expertise and global scale of Marriott International.
