During a live BBC radio interview, Sir Paul confirmed that he had been booked to close the opening ceremony.

The full line-up of the opening ceremony is yet to be announced.

Approximately four billion people are expected to watch the ceremony worldwide.

As anticipation mounts for the London Olympics 2012, VisitBritain expects The Games to attract 4 million extra visitors, spending £2.3bn in Britain over the next four years.
