Tom Daley has won a bronze medal in the men’s 10 m diving finals at the London Olympics 2012, despite a challenging year in which his father passed away.
Cheered on by a crowd of 17,500, Daley, finished on 556.95, while world champion Qiu Bo from China scored 566.85, and David Boudia from the United States took gold with his score of 568.65.
On winning the award, Daley commented: “I’m so happy right now because of all the hard times I have been through in the last 18 months with losing my Dad.
“Tonight I have got something to show for all the hard work. It is about time my family had some good news. Although this is a bronze medal, for me it is gold.”
