Shatin to Central Link ready for construction

The MTR Corporation welcomes the approval to the funding application for the Shatin to Central Link by the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council.

Following the funding approval, the construction of the project will start shortly. “Today’s funding approval marks an important milestone for the project.” said Mr Jay Walder, Chief Executive Officer of MTR Corporation.

“Our project team can now focus on the delivery of this new rail link which will play a critically vital part in connecting more districts of Hong Kong with our integrated rail network.”

The 17-km SCL consists of 10 stations, where 6 of them are interchange stations, namely Tai Wai, Diamond Hill, Ho Man Tin, Hung Hom, Exhibition and Admiralty. It is expected to be completed in 2 phases, with the section between Tai Wai and Hung Hom in 2018 while the Hung Hom to Admiralty Section in 2020. It is estimated that the SCL will create some 15,000 jobs throughout the construction period.
