MTR appoints May Wong as General Manager – corporate relations

The MTR Corporation announced the appointment of Ms May Wong as General Manager – corporate relations with effect from 10 January 2013 following the retirement of Mrs Miranda Leung on 9 January 2013. Currently Deputy General Manager – Corporate Relations, Ms May Wong graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada with a Bachelor of Journalism degree. Before joining the MTR Corporation for the first time in 1998, Ms Wong had more than a decade of experience as a journalist in Hong Kong and in Canada. Having been involved in the communication of many milestone events for the Corporation over the years, Ms Wong will be taking on her new role with in-depth knowledge of MTR businesses and extensive management experience.

Mrs Miranda Leung will retire after 37 years of service with the Corporation, the last 18 of which as Head of the Corporate Relations Department.
“I would like to thank Miranda for her invaluable contribution and dedication to the Corporation,” said Mr Jay Walder, Chief Executive Officer of the MTR Corporation.
“Miranda has been a great asset to MTR. Her professionalism and integrity have earned her trust and respect from both internal and external stakeholders. She has leveraged on her expertise to build and strengthen the public image of MTR. She played a significant role in the Corporation’s Initial Public Offering in 2000 and the Rail Merger in 2007 with effective communications strategies and programmes.”

“With her wealth of knowledge and experience in the local business and social environment, Miranda has provided strategic input in shaping and formulating the most important decisions at corporate level.”
