Explosion hits tourist district in Istanbul

At least 10 people have been killed and 15 wounded in an explosion which took place in a district of Istanbul popular with tourists, according to reports.

Several tourists are thought to be among those injured in the blast, which occurred in the city’s historic Sultanahmet district, clos to world famous Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia,

The explosion, which took place at around 10.20am local time, is thought to have been caused by a suicide bomber but this has yet to be confirmed.
