New Appointments At Pan Pacific Hotels And Resorts

Mr. Ichigo Umehara, President of Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts is pleased to announce the following new appointments:

MS. DEANNA J. MCGONIGAL
General Manager, The Puteri Pan Pacific Johor Bahru, Malaysia


Deanna joined the hotel effective 1 February 2000. She will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation and profitability of the hotel. A Canadian citizen, Deanna is proficient in business, marketing and tourism management.


Deanna brings a wealth of experience in the hospitality, international business and cultural experience to the company. She spent the past one and a half years with Encore Food Innovation as Vice President of Operations. Prior to that, she worked with Marco Polo Hotels in Singapore with projects in Jakarta and Vietnam, and before that with New World Hotels International in Hong Kong. Deanna had affiliations with Commonwealth Holiday Inns in Canada as well as Hotel Georgia (formerly Westin) and Ernies Fine Foods (division of General Foods) of Canada.

The Puteri Pan Pacific has 500 rooms, 5 food & beverage outlets, 11 meeting rooms, outdoor swimming pool, fitness and health centre, tennis and squash facilities. It is located in the heart of Johor Bahru`s business and shopping district, 5 minutes from the causeway to Singapore. MR. STEPHEN HALLIDAY
General Manager, The Pan Pacific Vancouver, Canada & Director-Senior Vice President, Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts America Inc.


A native Canadian, Stephen moves from The Pan Pacific Singapore where he has been General Manager since April 1995 back to Vancouver starting 1 March 2000. Having led the pioneer team in 1985 for The Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver`s opening in 1986, he will return to take over the helm from Susan Gomes who leaves to pursue other business interests.

He will be responsible for the daily operations and financial profitability of the award-winning 5-diamond hotel. He will also be responsible for leading the hotel team to generate excitement and creativity within the corridors of the staff areas in the hotel, to create a “fun at work” environment for all the staff.


MR. YASUHIRO UETANI
General Manager, The Pan Pacific Singapore & Director - Executive Vice President, Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts Pte. Ltd. Singapore


Stepping into the General Manager position at The Pan Pacific Singapore will be Pan Pacific veteran Mr. Yasuhiro Uetani. Mr. Uetani led the Pan Pacific Southeast Asian region in the late 1980s and early 1990s and will be warmly welcome back to Singapore.

In December 1998, Mr. Uetani relocated from San Francisco as President of Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts, America Inc to provide business leadership for Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts, Japan. During his tenure in Japan, he focused on business development with the Japan Regional Sales Offices and provided operational support to Palau Pacific Resort, The Pan Pacific Wuxi China and The Pan Pacific Hotel Yokohama.
