Marriott Expands Portfolio in Eastern Europe with First Hotel in Tblisi, Georgia

WASHINGTON - May 22, 2002 - Marriott International (NYSE: MAR) announced the opening of their first hotel in the Republic of Georgia, the 127-room Tbilisi Marriott Hotel. The hotel occupies the shell of the historic Hotel Tbilisi and is located in the heart of the city’s business, commercial and cultural center.

JSC Hotel Tbilisi is the owner of the hotel and Otto M. Stohl is the general manager.

The Tbilisi Marriott Hotel is offering special opening rates starting at US$119 for a deluxe room without breakfast.

The hotel’s rooms feature mini-bars, voicemail, dataport, air conditioning, sprinkler system and hair dryers. Other guest amenities include non-smoking rooms, 24-hour room service, business center, laundry service, health club and executive floor. Non-smoking rooms are available. Executive floor features include executive lounge with complimentary snacks and drinks, complimentary continental breakfast, pre-arranged VIP airport pick-up service, bathrobes and slippers, mineral water and express check-in/check-out.

For dining and entertainment, the hotel has five restaurants/bars, including the Restaurant Majestic and outdoor patio serving Mediterranean cuisine, lobby lounge, wine bar, café Parnas and a private dining room.

For meetings and social events, the Tbilsi Marriott Hotel has a 195-square-meter ballroom that can accommodate up to 250 people, four meeting rooms totaling 189 square-meters and two boardrooms.

The Tbilisi Marriott Hotel along with over 2,100 Marriott-affiliated hotels worldwide participates in Marriott Rewards, the guest reward program that allows members to earn their choice of points or airline miles for dollars spent during each stay.
