bmibaby has smashed its first year sales target by reaching record bookings of over ?  million passengers. The airline is now counting down to its millionth booker, who will be rewarded with £1000 worth of travel credits to redeem against travel on bmibaby in 2003.

The figures represent the overwhelming demand for bmibaby low cost flights across the airline`s network of European destinations from East Midlands and Cardiff. This amazing success has also resulted in the decision for bmibaby to launch a third UK base in 2003, the location of which will be revealed shortly.

bmibaby managing director, Tony Davis announced the news at the East Midlands Property Show:

“To be heading towards this milestone ahead of schedule is an enormous achievement for us and I am proud that we have proved the critics wrong. We are a successful airline in our own right, bookings are very strong and we are looking forward to soon reaching the one million mark.

“bmibaby is now operating 26 routes from the UK across Europe, this will increase to 31 next month with the introduction of more services from both of our UK bases. Passengers should also listen out for information on our third base which we are looking to announce later this year. The message is that we are here to stay, bmibaby is destined to get even bigger and better.

“People should get booking as we are on the look out for our millionth passenger. The lucky individual will receive £1000 worth of travel credits to use on bmibaby next year, which equates to up to 40 flights. This means that the person booking the millionth seat could be treating their family and friends to holidays next year.”
