Press: Finnair looks to majority stake in SAS

Finnish airline carrier Finnair Oyj is interested in buying a majority stake in SAS AB, Finnair Chief Executive Jukka Hienonen said according to a report Sunday in Dagens Nyheter.
According to Hienonen, the main rationale for such a deal would be to increase the company’s number of international flights.

Finnair already offers flights to seven destinations in China and Japan, and intends to increase the number of Asian destinations by between one and two a year, Hienonen said.

He emphasised that Finnair would only be interested in buying a majority stake in SAS.
