Sharjah airport receives first flight

Sharjah International Airport has received the first flight in the new arrival hall. Passengers landed with the Air Arabia flight ABY G9 122 from Kuwait and were welcomed by the airport’s staff with red roses.

A small reception was organised with flowers and giveaways being distributed to passengers along with refreshments.

Several officials were there to welcome the first passengers; Dr. Ghanem Al Hajri Director General Dept. of Civil Aviation and Sharjah Airport Authority, airport directors, representatives from the airport police, airport immigration, airport customs, DUFRY, Bin Laden group (contractor for the project), GHD-the consultants and designers of the phase, Projacs-the project management company and other airport’s clients.

The Arrival Hall space is increased from 90 square meters to 500 square meters and is one phase of Sharjah International Airport Expansion project which once completed will accommodate 8 million passengers annually.
