Alamo Rent A Car Launches “The Value Project”

If there’s a family vacation in your future, this is the place to go – before you go.

Inspired by its sponsorship of Frommers.com’s 100 Places to Take Your Kids, Alamo Rent A Car has launched “The Value Project,” an online community for families planning vacations. The community – found under a new tab on Alamo’s Facebook page – offers families a forum for exchanging ideas and information (including great deals, can’t-miss attractions, insider knowledge and more) about U.S. vacation destinations and travel experiences.

“We’ve created The Value Project as a comprehensive resource to help customers make the very most of their family vacations,” said Susan Madigan, marketing director of Alamo Rent A Car. “This online community enables Alamo customers to be the travel experts, as they connect with other families, share personal experiences and benefit from one another’s suggestions, ideas and tips.”

The Value Project community, which offers family-friendly vacation suggestions from Frommer’s Travel and Alamo employees and customers, will highlight cities from Frommers.com’s 100 Places to Take Your Kids and include content from its 100 best family-friendly attractions in the U.S.

Just launched, Alamo’s sponsorship of the Frommer’s 100 Places to Take Your Kids will continue through July 2012. Throughout the sponsorship, the Frommer’s page will feature Alamo banner ads, design elements and an interactive game. The goal of The Value Project is to both promote the Frommer’s partnership as well as create a destination where people can get real vacation values from the real experts: local Alamo employees and Alamo fans.

The Value Project is just the latest travel innovation from Alamo, which has long been recognized as a technology innovator. The brand was the first in the industry to offer real-time Internet booking capabilities in 1995 and introduced the industry’s first and only online check-in system in 2005. Customers can also check in at more than 171 self-service kiosks at 63 U.S. locations, which earned Alamo the “Extra Mile Award” from Budget Travel magazine in 2007. Alamo customers in the U.S. are able to conveniently choose their own vehicles, based upon their advance reservation and requested car class, and then simply drive away from the airport.
